From Biz Buzz blog …
Going out to lunch a little while ago, I happened to glance over at the old Mexican restaurant on South Gloster Street in Tupelo next to the Sprint Mart and the bridge. It was previously the Peking Chinese Japanese, and before that, New Hunan Chinese Restaurant. Anyway, out front is a big banner that said, “Coming Soon Indian Cuisine.”
Naturally, I had to stop by to see what’s going on.
Sure enough, the building will be turned into another restaurant for the third time in three years. This time, it will be called Bombay Grill (I suppose it should be Mumbai Grill, but Bombay rolls off the tongue better).
I talked to the owner, Madhu Ankisetty, who also owns Maharaja Indian Cuisine in Oxford. He plans to open Bombay Grill by the end of the month.
It’ll have menu offerings and a small sampling table of sorts, but no buffet, a la Shaan India Palace in the Skyline community East of Tupelo. Shaan also has items on its menu.
Ankisetty said Bombay Grill will offer lunch and dinner. He’s not set hours yet, but will as opening gets closer.
Biz Buzz will let you know when that happens, of course.
