BIZ BUZZ: Tupelo rejects air service bids

By Dennis Seid/NEMS Daily Journal

Tupelo has officially rejected the four bids submitted last month from companies looking to provide air service in Tupelo.

Those airlines – Air Choice One, SeaPort Airlines, Blue Sky and Sun Air – submitted various proposals ranging from $1.7 million a year to nearly $3 million a year.

So what’s next? We wait and see what DOT has to say and hope it opens up another round of bids. Naturally, city and airport officials hope a better bid comes in.

Meanwhile, Delta will have to continue providing service until a subsititute carrier is found.

More as it develops.
