Blue Mountain drops pair to William Carey

BLUE MOUNTAIN – William Carey University controlled the boards and the turnovers here Tuesday night and claimed a pair of wins from Blue Mountain College.
The Lady Crusaders out-rebounded BMC 53-37, including a 19-9 margin on the offensive boards, and knocked off BMC, 55-46. In the men’s game, WCU scored 22 points off 31 turnovers by the Toppers for a 71-59 win.
Erin Parish scored 12 points to lead BMC (1-2) and Jordan McCormick had nine points and seven rebounds. For WCU (2-1), Megan Reynolds had 19 points and Hope Swindle had 13.
In the men’s game, Carey overcame BMC’s 35-29 halftime lead, then went on an 11-point spurt to capture its season-opening win. The Toppers dropped to 2-2.
Drew Meyerchick scored 18 points to lead the Crusaders and Jonathan Woodland had 15 points. For BMC, Corbin Harris and Josh McCalmon each had 12 points and Lakendrick McCullum had 10 points and eight rebounds.
BMC hits the road to Walnut Ridge , Ark. , for a Saturday afternoon doubleheader against Williams Baptist College .
