Board: Salesmen face fines after 6 p.m. in Fulton

By The Itawamba County Times

FULTON – The Fulton Board of Aldermen is slamming the door shut on traveling salespeople … or at least those who come knocking after 6 p.m.
The board voted to impose stiff penalties for transient salespeople – non-residents who travel from area-to-area, door-to-door selling everything from vacuum cleaners to burglar alarms – who drop by a little too late.
Violators face heavy fines or, if they’re persistent, even jail time. Once the ordinance goes into effect, first-time violators will be hit with a flat $100 fine. Subsequent violations will be met with harsher penalties – up to a $500 fine and/or five days in jail.
The ordinance only applies to transient vendors; Scouts need not fear arrest.
