Board threatens pay cut for Booneville mayor

By NEMS Daily Journal

BOONEVILLE – Members of the Booneville city board have threatened to reduce the mayor’s salary if communication between the branches of government does not improve, according to the Banner Independent newspaper.
Aldermen Mark McCoy, Wilda Pounds, Harold Eaton and Jeff Williams reportedly agreed to take the action against Mayor Joe Eaton after the first of the year if the information flow from his office does not improve by then. Ward 4 Alderman David Bolen, who also serves as vice mayor, was not at the meeting due to a death in his family.
The mayor declined to comment and said anything he had to say would be discussed privately with the aldermen.
