CLINTON – A body believed to be an 81-year-old woman who disappeared in central Mississippi has been found, authorities said.
The body was discovered Friday night after a farmer near Edwards noticed an odor when he went to tend his hogs and called police, Clinton Police Chief Don Byington said.
An autopsy Saturday showed the victim died of blunt-force trauma to the head and neck, but dental records would be required before determining if the victim was Ethel Winstead Simpson, who has been missing since Monday, Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart told The Clarion-Ledger.
A man suspected of being involved in the disappearance was arrested Friday in Alabama on charges of robbing and stabbing a man.
