TISHOMINGO – The body of a boater missing since Friday night has been found in waters near Crow’s Neck, the Tishomingo County coroner said.
At 2:30 p.m. today officials were still at the scene where the body of the boater was about to be transported, said Coroner Mack Wilemon. The boater has not been identified pending notification of family, Wilemon said.
The body was found about 3 miles south of Crow’s Neck by a barge operator near where he was thought to go missing and retrieved by the Corps of Engineers, Wilemon said.
Individuals from the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department, Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have been searching for the man since early Saturday, after he apparently fell from a boat in Bay Springs Lake late Friday.
Tishomingo County Sheriff Glenn Whitlock said previously that while there were other men on the boat at the same time, there was no foul play and it appeared to be an accident.
More information is expected to be available later today.
