Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, the U.S. House’s Republican leader, will make Mississippi stops next week for House candidate Alan Nunnelee of Tupelo, as well as to promote his push to become speaker.
Boehner’s plans may include a Jackson event to raise money for his speaker bid, which moves closer to reality if the GOP wins a majority in the Nov. 2 elections.
He also is expected to be part of events in DeSoto County, traditionally a GOP stronghold, where he’ll promote Nunnelee’s campaign to wrest the First District seat from Democrat Travis Childers of Booneville.
Comments are not yet available from the Nunnelee campaign about the visit.
Reports also say Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee will campaign for Nunnelee in late October, with Rep. Eric Kantor of Virginia sometime soon.
Details haven’t been completed yet on those visits, either.
