Bond refused for Pontotoc man charged in Tippah County deputy's death

Franklin Fitzpatrick of Pontotoc is being held without bond on capital murder charges in the shooting death of a Tippah County sheriff’s deputy.

Fitzpatrick, 26, made an initial appearance today in circuit court in Chickasaw County before Circuit Court Judge Lackey. Bond was refused.

Tippah County Deputy Dewayne Crenshaw, 62, was killed when police were trying to subdue a man after a disturbance call at a home on County Road 500 about 4 a.m. Friday morning.

Visitation for Crenshaw will be at the Ripley Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral will be at the Ripley Event Center on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
