Bond set after Amory officer's shooting

AMORY – Bond was set at $2 million for the man charged with shooting a city police officer Saturday.

Authorities claim Jeremy Dale Davis, 23, took Cpl. James Johnson's gun while Johnson was completing paperwork on Davis' arrest on drunken driving charges Saturday night. Four shots were fired, one of them striking Johnson's upper back, said Public Affairs Director Warren Strain.

Davis faces charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated assault manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, possession of a firearm by a felon and burglary of a dwelling.
