Bond set at $1 million in Tupelo armed robbery

TUPELO – A Tupelo man has been arrested in connection with an armed bank robbery on Friday.
Matthew Maynard, 25, of 409 1/2 N. Madison St., Apartment B, was arrested Friday evening, just a few hours after an armed robbery at the M & F Bank, located at 1012 N. Gloster St.
Maynard’s bond has been set at $1 million. He is currently on probation from a narcotics charge in Oktibbeha County, said Tupelo Police Chief Tony Carleton.
After the robbery on Friday afternoon, officers and a TPD K-9 unit established a perimeter and began tracking the suspect, Carleton said. The officers recovered a gun and money from the robbery.
The bank robbery is being investigated by the TPD Criminal Investigation Unit and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
