Bond set for business robbery suspect

TUPELO – Police charged Kerrius D. Hunter with armed robbery late Tuesday night.

Hunter, 18, of Tupelo was arrested after police said he entered Papa John’s on West Main Street on Tuesday about 9 p.m., displaying a handgun and demanding money. After allegedly fleeing the scene on foot and leading officers on a chase, Hunter was arrested shortly after the incident. An officer was assaulted around 9:40 p.m., according to police.

Hunter is charged with armed robbery and simple assault on a police officer.

His bond was set at $100,000 and Wednesday he was in the Lee County jail.
