By The Associated Press

COLUMBUS — Bond was set at $250,000 for the man arrested over the weekend in connection with a shooting death in Columbus.

WTVA TV reports James Newsom is being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.

He is charged with murder in the death of John Easley.

Easley was found dead Sunday in the passenger seat of a car after he suffered apparent gunshot wounds to the chest.

It was unclear whether Newsom has an attorney.

Police say the case remains under investigation.
