Bond set in murder case

TUPELO – A $1 million bond was set Tuesday for Bernard Young by Justice Court Judge Rickey Thompson. Young, 33, of Saltillo is charged with the Monday murder of a Plantersville woman.

Thompson said the case will be presented to the grand jury in October.

Tarnara Neal, 27, was shot three times in the chest area while in her car, said Sheriff Jim Johnson. The incident occurred between Plantersville and Tupelo. Chief Deputy John Hall did not have information Tuesday about the murder weapon.

Shortly after the shooting, Young turned himself in at the sheriff's office, Hall said.

Neal and Young were not married but have a 3-year-old child together, Hall said.
