Booneville appoints Ramey interim chief

BOONEVILLE – Following an executive session to discuss the personnel issue of appointing an interim police chief, the Booneville Board of Aldermen appointed Capt. Michael Ramey to the post.
The board hopes to finalize a decision for a chief by the end of the year or sooner, said Mayor Joe Eaton.
Ramey, who served as interim chief two years ago, is a department investigator and has been with the Booneville Police Department for 22 years. The chief’s position became vacant when the board voted earlier this week to fire Steve Bingham as chief.
