Booneville city board fires three police officers

BOONEVILLE – Three Booneville police officers were fired in connection with an internal department incident during a special meeting of the Booneville Board of Aldermen Tuesday.

Capt. Bryan Mays, Patrolman Eric White and Patrolman Clay Koon were terminated effective immediately, said city attorney Daniel Tucker.

“There was nothing in connection with the public involved,” Tucker said. However, the board held discussion of the personnel matter in executive session and no further information about the incident is being released.

The precipitating incident happened about three weeks ago, and an internal investigation was conducted, Tucker said.

Though the police department remains fully staffed, Tucker said the three positions will be posted by police Chief Michael Ramey at an appropriate time.
