BOONEVILLE – The Prentiss County grand jury will hear the case of a former employee of a Booneville plant who was charged this week with embezzlement.

Stephen Blake Hobson, 48, of 856 Highland Park Drive, Tupelo, worked in the business department of Heartland Siding, a division of ProVia, an Ohio company. He was charged earlier this month with embezzling $43,556 from the company after a company official in Booneville filed a complaint on June 25, said Police Chief Michael Ramey.

The arrest followed an internal investigation by the company as well as an investigation by Booneville Police Department’s criminal investigation division, which indicated the alleged theft occurred over several months, the chief said. Hobson was released on $25,000 bond.

The case will be presented to the next session of the Prentiss Couty grand jury, which is scheduled for October.
