BOONEVILLE – The Booneville Gas Department may gain about three dozen new customers with an expansion into the Dry Creek community in Tippah County.
After receiving the city board’s approval, the city engineer and attorney are seeking to determine if the city utility department already has a certificate to serve the residents on Tippah County Roads 621 and 624, said utility manager Billy McQueen.
“If the homes aren’t in anyone’s certificated area, we’ll apply for it,” McQueen said.
About 38 of the 40 homeowners in the community signed a petition requesting the service through the system, which serves about 6,000 customers.
Once given the go-ahead, work would begin some time in the summer.
“We’ll put it in ourselves, about 3.8 miles of main line that will have to be run,” McQueen said.
