Boys State moves to Southern Miss

By NEMS Daily Journal

HATTIESBURG – The American Legion Boys State Program will be held on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi for at least the next three years.
Representatives from Southern Miss and the American Legion announced a three-year agreement on the event, which gives rising high school seniors a better understanding of how elections and state government work in Mississippi.
The 2010 Boys State convention will be held May 30 to June 5. Participants this year will receive three semester hours of college credit that can be applied to any college or university in the state.
About 350 young men are selected to participate in Boys State each year based on their leadership and character. For more information about the program, visit www.msboysstate.com.
