TUPELO – Wesley Brandon of Belden faces criminal charges in the 2011 vehicular death of John E. Bell.
Brandon, 31, and Bell, 30, of Tupelo were involved in a head-on collision May 14 at West Jackson Avenue and Coley Road.
A Lee County grand jury recently indicted Brandon on a DUI-death charge, accusing him of willfully and negligently operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
Soon after the collision, Brandon posted a $250,000 bond, but after his arraignment Tuesday, his bond was reduced to $50,000.
He is represented by Tupelo attorney Frank Russell.
Brandon was one of dozens of defendants at the Lee County Justice Center on Tuesday for arraignment day of the May term of circuit court.
Many of them entered not-guilty pleas and had bonds set by one of the circuit judges.
Some of them qualified to receive free legal help from local attorneys who serve as public defenders.
Others either had their lawyer with them or were advised to hire one.
The court term will begin Tuesday and last throughout the month.
