Tupelo man arrested, held on rape charges
• PLANTERSVILLE – A Tupelo man faces rape charges after an incident early Sunday morning.
Anthony Turner, 23, of 110 Stone St., Tupelo, was arrested by Plantersville Police Department and is charged with rape and possession of less than two grams of cocaine.
Turner is accused of raping an acquaintance who was giving him a ride home from a Tupelo club early Sunday, said Plantersville Chief of Police Maury Schuh.
Turner is being held at the Lee County Jail and bond has not been set.

Supervisors to appoint replacement for Weeks
• PONTOTOC – Pontotoc County’s Board of Supervisors has until Nov. 30 to appoint a replacement for West Side Justice Court Judge Phil Weeks, who died Saturday.
At their meeting on Monday, the supervisors transferred Weeks’ caseload to East Side Judge David Hall until a replacement can be found.
Weeks’ successor will start the job Jan. 1. The position will be on the ballot in the November 2011 election.
Weeks, 59, had served as judge for 15 years. He also was judge for the town of Algoma.
