Bryce Drew says he will not be Mississippi State’s next men’s basketball coach.
The Northwest Indiana Times’ Paul Oren just tweeted out a quote from Drew, as follows: “I have pulled my name for consideration for Mississippi State.” That’s all he had to say tonight to the reporter.
Drew interviewed with MSU on Monday in Atlanta, according to ESPN.com’s Jason King. Drew’s father-in-law, Keith Thibodeaux, confirmed to me earlier today that Drew did indeed speak with State.
So … now what? MSU has whiffed on Steve Prohm, John Groce – that I know. Two other names I’ve heard are still in the running: Kentucky assistant Kenny Payne and Mississippi Valley State head coach Sean Woods. Tomorrow will mark two weeks since Rick Stansbury resigned after 14 years at the helm.
