TUPELO – The Burger Bash, usually held a week before the Christmas parade, is coming back around early this year.
The Boys & Girls club will have its annual fundraiser on Thursday, and volunteers will be grilling up juicy angus steak burgers downtown. The $8 asking price will go straight into the club’s general fund.
“Usually we raise about $3,500 and the great thing about it is that it is at no cost to the club,” said Evie Boyd, director of marketing for the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Mississippi. “Everything is donated and our board members chip in too. It’s all gain.”
The $8 includes a burger, chips, cookie and a drink.
An anonymous donor provides the burgers, Coca-Cola donates drinks, McDonald’s provides napkins, bags and condiments and the board members provide cookies and chips.
Anyone can pre-order by calling (662) 841-6504 ext. 4 before 5 p.m. Wednesday, or stop by the MLM parking lot on the corner of Spring and Troy streets and purchase one.
“To tell you the truth, the burgers are so good I’ve only had the opportunity to taste them once, last year, because they sell out so fast,” Boyd said.
