Burglars strike at two churches

By NEMS Daily Journal

SHERMAN – Two churches in the Sherman area were burglarized overnight Sunday, according to the Sherman Police Department.
Burglars hit the Sherman Church of Christ and Tri-County Baptist Church, with police being dispatched to both churches at about 3 a.m. Monday, said Sherman Police Chief Joel Spellins.
Spellins said electronics were stolen from the Sherman Church of Christ. The Lee County Sheriff’s Department is handling the Tri-County Baptist investigation and a department spokesperson was not available for comment Monday.
Because both burglaries were overnight and in the same area, Spellins said he believes the two are connected.
Investigations are under way at both locations, he said.
