MDA to host grant workshop
- JACKSON – The Mississippi Development Authority will host a workshop Thursday in Tupelo to provide information about the state energy program and the energy efficiency and conservation block grant program.
The workshop is designed to educate city and county officials, as well as community and business leaders. Participants will learn more about technical assistance available through the programs, disbursement of funds, eligible activities and proposal criteria.
The workshop is Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon at the BancorpSouth Conference Center.

Lane Bryant opens second Tupelo store
TUPELO – Lane Bryant has opened a store in King’s Crossing, the shopping center anchored by Kohl’s and Ross.
Tonya Hickman, an employee at the retailer, said the store opened Oct. 27 and currently is celebrating its grand opening. It has 12 employees.
The original Lane Bryant location in the Mall at Barnes Crossing will stay open until May 2010. Cindy Childs, marketing director at the mall, said Lane Bryant will operate it as a regular store, not a closeout location or an outlet.
The new store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The phone number is (662) 620-6660.

Verizon Wireless opens store in Starkville
STARKVILLE – Verizon Wireless on Friday celebrated the grand opening of its Starkville store.
The new store, at 911 Highway 12, has 11 employees.
Hours are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The store phone number is (662) 324-1113.
Verizon Wireless officials at the grand opening donated $1,500 to Safe Haven of Columbus as part of the company’s domestic violence prevention initiative.
