TUPELO – A Memphis-based used car company is opening its first Mississippi dealership in Tupelo later this month.

American Car Center will be doing business at the former Varsity Suzuki site on South Gloster Street.

Before that, the site was the home of Metro Ford, which moved to Barnes Crossing Road several years ago.

American Car Center has four locations in the Memphis area and another in Jackson, Tenn.

The Tupelo dealership is expected to open Dec. 16, said sales manager Dane Christian.

“Tupelo is close to our home base, and it’s a great car town,” he said. “It’s the hub of Northeast Mississippi and pulls in a lot of people from the region.”

The company promotes “partnering with good people with credit problems” and sells late-model, low-mileage used vehicles.

The self-proclaimed “King of Credit” has been doing business in the Memphis area for 13 years.

“We sell every make and model, and they come with three-year, 36,000-mile warranties,” Christian said.

Vehicles come with free oil changes for three years or 25,000 miles.

Oil changes and other minor repairs will be outsourced through a third party, but ACC plans to add a service department on site in the future.

The Tupelo dealership initially will employ three people.

It will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Memphis-area American Car Center dealerships each sell about 200 vehicles a month, Christian said.
