TUPELO – Six months after moving his IV’s Restaurant to West Main Street, Al Wallace has closed its doors.
“I’m job searching right now,” he said Friday.
Posted on the front door of the restaurant is a sign thanking customers for their patronage.
“Thank you to everyone that supported IV’s over the years; it has been a pleasure to serve you,” reads the poster signed by Wallace. “Unfortunately we are closed now. Look forward to seeing everyone again in the future.”
Wallace said the restaurant’s last day was Sunday, a week after he had “drawn a line in the sand” about the restaurant’s operations.
And the numbers just didn’t add up, he said.
Wallace, who opened IV’s in 2002 on Industrial Road, said there won’t be another IV’s anytime soon.
“There are no plans to open another restaurant under the IV’s name,” he said. “I’m just job searching right now. In the future, perhaps.”
In the move to West Main, Wallace changed the decor and menu, switching from a white-tablecloth, upscale menu to a more casual, family-friendly menu that included a weekday lunch buffet.
