CORINTH – The Corinth Area Convention and Visitors Bureau ended Fiscal Year 2013 with record tax collections at $554,563.
Executive Director Christy Burns said collection amount is about 5 percent more than the $529,227 collected for the 2012 fiscal year.
The tourism council receives half of the 2 percent tourism tax collected on restaurant and hotel room sales.
The agency ended the fiscal year with a $1,500 balance, and begins the 2014 fiscal year adding a $35,000 surplus held by the city from the FY 2013 tax collections.
The CVB also will receive a monthly draw of $45,000 from FY 2014 tax collections.
