A 121-room Courtyard by Marriott is projected to open by late 2014, according to its developer, Tupelo-based Fusion Hospitality.
The hotel, to be built on East Jackson Avenue, will adjacent to the Oxford Depot Trail Overpass across from the University of Mississippi campus.
Geared toward business and leisure travelers, the Courtyard will include more than 2,400 square feet of meeting space, in addition to a business center, indoor pool and a fitness center.
According to Fusion, the Oxford Courtyard also will feature a “green roof,” the first of its kind in the area. The green roof will be comprised of trees, lawn and planted beds as well as a terrace. The terrace will serve as outdoor events space overlooking the University of Mississippi and Oxford.
Hotel guests in the eight most exclusive suites will have private patio access to the roof terrace, Fusion said.
The hotel will include 104 standard rooms, nine suites and eight two-story, lofted suites with city views and terrace access.
Fusion Hospitality owns and operates six hotels in north Mississippi. The company has three additional hotels under construction in Tupelo, which are scheduled to open in 2013.
A groundbreaking for the Courtyard is expected in mid-2013.
