TUPELO –The Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau released second quarter budget numbers this week and showed that tourism tax dollars are on target to reach the $3.6 million budget for fiscal year 2013.
Sales taxes were better than the corresponding month last year for the fourth straight month.
The March report, which reflects January spending, showed sales tax receipts 5.6 percent higher than the same month in 2012.
So far, sales tax revenue is up 4.1 percent over the same period in the previous year.
The CVB’s marketing group reported an increase in website visits of 17 percent over March 2012.
