TUPELO – Downtown Tupelo retailer Ladybug’s Children’s & Maternity Shop will close its business for good next month.
Owner Machelle Pitcock said her store’s last day is Dec. 15.
The children’s store opened seven years ago on North Spring Street and emphasizes luxury and heirloom-quality merchandise. The maternity store opened next door in 2010.
Pitcock notified her customers and employees Wednesday of her plans.
“Recently, I have realized that I only have eight years until my (daughter) Grace goes off to college,” Pitcock said in a statement. “With that in mind, I have decided with a content heart to close Ladybug’s … These last seven years have been wonderful at Ladybug’s. I appreciate all my loyal customers and have enjoyed getting to know each of you. Dressing your children and grandchildren has given me great joy. I also could not have made Ladybug’s what it has grown to be without the wonderful ladies that have worked for me over the years.”
Pitcock today kicks off a customer appreciation sale that runs until the store closes. Everything in the store is 30 percent off. She said all sales are final and only cash or checks are accepted.
Plus, customers must redeem all coupons and store credit by the final business day.
