TUPELO – The Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting a meeting next week for all Tupelo event organizers.
The meeting will teach organizers how to list their upcoming events with the CVB’s website, provide tips and pointers on how to promote and cross-promote their events and allow a networking opportunity.
“It’s grown from 30 organizations to 162,” said Pat Rasberry, CVB’s in-market strategist. “We’re looking for people who plan events.”
The CVB hosts free event listings on its website, tupelo.net, and the meeting will teach organizers how to navigate the site and its listing feature.
“We’re a calendar clearinghouse for Tupelo and we drive visitors to their events. It provides a service for the community and for visitors,” Rasberry said.
The events turned into the CVB are then turned into weekly flyers that are given to Tupelo hotels, so visitors can find out what’s happening that week. Events listed on the CVB calendar range from local concerts to plays, from Pioneer Days to the Flea Market. The meeting also will teach organizers with similar events happening around the same time to work together and cross-promote.
The event organizers’ meeting, which is free, is at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the BancorpSouth Arena rooms 1 and 2.
Lunch will be provided, but organizers must RSVP no later than Monday. To RSVP, call Pat Rasberry at (662) 841-6521.
