TUPELO – Lee/Itawamba County Farm Service Agency Director Ross Loftin said farmers and farm landowners have until Aug. 1 to submit nominating petitions for the 2013 FSA County Committee election.
This year, voters in all four newly-established areas will elect a candidate to serve on the FSA committee. County committee members normally serve three-year terms. However, in this transitional election year, terms will have to be staggered with one area electing a person for a one-year term, one area electing a person for a two-year term, and two areas electing candidates for three-year terms.
Nominating petitions are available at the local FSA office or by going online at www.usda.fsa.gov. Additional information on the COC election or other programs administered by the FSA may be obtained from the local FSA office.
