TUPELO – The popular Five Guys hamburger chain is opening a restaurant in Tupelo soon.

The owners of Eat Here Brands in Jackson, which owns five Five Guys restaurants in Mississippi, have posted an online employment ad for a manager for its Tupelo store.

The company is looking to open in the King’s Crossing shopping center on North Gloster Street, where Kohl’s and Ross anchor the development. Restaurants already in the shopping center include Newk’s Eatery, Mt. Fuji Japanese Seafood Steakhouse and Don Julios. The center also is home to Gigi’s Cupcakes, Smoothie King and Extreme Yogurt. Five Guys was founded in Washington, D.C., in 1986.

The restaurant specializes in hand-formed burgers and fresh-cut fries cooked only in peanut oil. The company began franchising in 2003, and it now has more than 1,100 locations across the country. Eat Here Brands is owned by restaurateur Bill Latham and Al Roberts, who co-founded the Amerigo and CHAR restaurants in Jackson and later sold them; former McAlister’s Deli Chairman and CEO Mike Stack; and former On The Border Cafe President andCOO Ned Lidvall.

The group also owns Babalu Tacos and Tapas in Jackson, Table 100 Restaurant and Bar in Flowood and Interim Restaurant and Bar in Memphis. In an earlier interview with the Mississippi Business Journal, Latham and Roberts said they wanted to expand the Five Guys franchise, as well as their other restaurant concepts, statewide and around the Southeast.
