Furniture Association president stepping down

PONTOTOC – Ken Pruett, who has headed the Mississippi Furniture Association since 2004, is stepping down at the end of the year.

In a letter to members and supports, Pruett said, “It has been very exciting at times as well as very frustrating at other times. All in all, I know that we have served in a way that has brought many successes to our industry. … I won’t remember the disappointments, but only the successes.”

Pruett cited several successes, including the $2,000 cut-and-sew tax incentive, enacted in 2009 and now extended to 2017; support for freeport warehousing – which has led to the elimination of warehouse taxes – and its support for a Foreign

Trade Zone status for Lee County.
