TUPELO – The Gap outlet store is scheduled to open a week from today in Tupelo.
The Gap Factory Store sign was mounted Tuesday to the building, which is next to Old Navy. The outlet store replaces the Gap store inside The Mall at Barnes Crossing.
The mall store will close by the end of the month and managers and employees have the option to transfer to the new outlet.
Jeff Snyder, general manager of the mall, said the outlet store is eyeing Jan. 30 as its first day of business.
The factory store brand, according to information from other Gap outlets, sells apparel at about 40 percent less than the regular Gap price. It carries denim, khakis, T-shirts, active wear and accessories for men and women.
Gap outlet is opening in the former Circuit City location off North Gloster Street. The shopping center is managed by the same company that manages the mall.
New York & Co. also is closing this month. Express will go into that retailer’s space.
Snyder declined to say which retailer will go into Gap’s vacant space, but mall officials previously have announced the addition of Chico’s and Francesca’s.
