HOMEGROWN: Doodlebug’s Paint and Party Place

If you’re looking for a rainy day activity or just a way to flex your creative muscles a little, Kathy Poston and the talented crew at Doodlebug’s Paint and Party Place have a great alternative.

The do-it-yourself paint studio in Tupelo has artistic opportunities for everyone.

The art studio offers pre-sketched canvasses ready for painting.

Michelle Goolsby, one of the studio’s resident artists says that although some people may be intimidated by art, “there is a creative spirit in all of us.”

Pre-sketched canvasses are available in a wide array of motifs, from Disney characters to religious pieces tofloral designs. Customers paint their own pieces, adding their own style elements for a great keepsake.

The studio has begun hosting regular events with themes like “Fancy Nancy,” a popular children’s book, with plans to host more.

Doodlebug’s also hosts a number of birthday parties and will offer six summer camp sessions aimed at kids 5 to 12.

Anna Katherine Phipps, another artist at the studio, said that Doodlebug’s also offers a “paint-your-pet” program.

Pet owners can email photos to the studio and they will do the drawing either the staff or customers can paint.

Another growing event at the studio is “Girls’ Night Out” aimed at adults. Specials are available for a hostess that brings in six or more guests.

Canvasses are 16 by 20 inches and are priced $25 for children and $35 for adults.
