ABERDEEN – Chalking it up to a small-town life, Timeless Treasures owner Barbara Easterling usually knows whether customers entering her store are local or not. That knowledge can come in especially handy while people peruse her gift shop.
“I had one customer (recently) ask if her friend had pointed out anything in particular,” she said. “If I don’t know anything specific, I usually know the category somebody likes. The fun part is watching the men walk through buying for their wives. If I don’t know his wife, I ask what her hair color is and that may help in finding the right scarf or piece of jewelry.”
In February, Timeless Treasures will celebrate its 27th anniversary. During those years, it has provided gift choices for anniversaries, weddings, births, birthdays, graduations and nearly any other occasion.
“I started with a bridal registry and now the daughters of those original brides are getting married. One of my first brides has a daughter getting married in the spring,” Easterling said.
A popular gift for not only brides, but customers across the board is pottery. Timeless Treasures stocks Mississippi-made Peter’s Pottery.
The also store carries college merchandise, which make popular choices for men’s gifts.
While they’re hard to find, Easterling also keeps her eyes peeled for fine linens to provide to her customers. She also tries to carry as many Mississippi-made products as she can.
The store also carries home décor like mirrors, wind chimes, clocks, lamps and candlesticks; cookbooks; and a gourmet food line. Jewelry is a popular product as well.
Complimentary gift wrapping and layaway is offered.
