HOMEGROWN: Tupelo Tint /The Blind Side

By Dennis Seid/NEMS Daily Journal

In 1995, Steve and Teresa Braun opened the Detail Doctor, an automotive detail shop.
They expanded into windshield replacement and repair two years later, and over the years, the business has continued to expand. Today, the main business is called Tupelo Tint, which Steve runs. The Blind Side belongs to Teresa.
And the business continues to install and repair automotive glass.
Tupelo Tint, as its name suggests, installs tint in vehicles of all makes and models.
But the biggest portion of business installing the exclusive Huper Optik tint to homes and business.
“If it’s glass, we can tint it,” Steve Braun said.
The Blind Side is the area’s authorized dealer for Hunter Douglas blinds, shades and shutters. The Braun’s exclusive products have attracted customers not only across the region and state, but across the country.
“We’ve tinted in Dallas, we’ve been in Shreveport, we’ve coordinated a job in California. … we’re national,” Steve Braun said.
No wonder that Tupelo Tint was named Huper Optik’s 2012 small market National Synergy Award – a recognition for being the national dealer of the year. Both businesses have developed a loyal following, and the Brauns say there’s a reason behind it.
“When people come in here, they deal with the same people from start to finish,” Teresa Braun said.
“The key is customer service. … we don’t try to sell you something just to sell,” Steve Braun said. “We want to help you.”
