Three years after selling women’s clothing online to gauge interest, Carrie Hancock has moved to her second brick-and-mortar location.

After opening Yellow Lovebirds in Fairpark in 2010, Hancock moved to The Mall at Barnes Crossing last month.

A 2009 graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in educational psychology, Hancock said she always had a feel for the most recent trends.

That pays dividends in the women’s fashion, and Hancock knew it wouldn’t take long to go from online to opening a store front.

“We have contemporary women’s clothing. … if I don’t just love it, I won’t sell it,” she said.

Hancock tries to stay ahead in the ever-evolving world of fashion, banking on choices made months ahead of when the merchandise gets to the store.

“It changes a lot, and you never know what we’ll have from one day to the next,” she said. “But it’s also affordable. I’ve always shopped affordable and I want it that way for our customers. If you do that, they’ll keep coming back.”

And how did the store get its name?

“Yellow is my favorite color and I always loved the image of lovebirds.”
