Toby Hedges, a Shelter Insurance agent in Tupelo, has earned the Chartered Life Underwriter professional designation from The American College.

Candidates for the CLU designation must complete a minimum of eight courses and 16 hours of supervised examinations. They also must fulfill experience and ethics requirements.

More than 100,000 individuals have received CLU designation since 1927.

Hedges is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas. He has earned a spot in Shelter’s Hall of Fame, based on awards earned from the company. He is among the top 10 percent of Shelter’s agents in its 14-state operating area.

Hollie Phillips has joined Nail McKinney Professional Association in Tupelo.

A Corinth native, Phillips received her Bachelor of Accountancy in 2012 and her Master of Taxation in May 2013 from Mississippi State University.

She recently completed the CPA exam.

Dr. Stephen K. King of Tupelo Small Animal Hospital recently completed continuing education credits in Largo, Fla., with Dr. Jason G. Eisele on the Lateral Cruciate Repair Technique with the Securos PowerX Crimping System and the

Patella Luxation Correction Technique.

King is a 1988 graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been a co-owner with Dr. Glenn S. Thomas of Tupelo Small Animal Hospital since 1994.
