OKOLONA – Furniture manufacturer Rose Hill Company of Okolona has a new owner who says it will continue to use the company’s name.
Madison Park Home Furnishings, which was established in 2007 and has its international headquarters are in Hangzhou, China, bought Rose Hill earlier this month.
Madison Park’s U.S. headquarters is in Tupelo.
Financial details of the deal were undisclosed, but a company spokesman said all indications are the company will increase production.
“I am sure they plan on adding a (production) line and they bring a lot of customers to us with this purchase,” said Maria Sesin of Madison Park Home Furnishings. “I have not been told when or how quickly this might happen.”
She did say Madison Park produces a wide range of living room furniture. Sesin was not aware of any changes to the Rose Hill’s product mix or new merchandise that might be produced in Okolona.
Sesin said there have been no major changes in personnel and the Rose Hill name will remain on the front of the building.
“Rose Hill was purchased by a larger company and right now we are getting ready for market in High Point (N.C.), where we will be billing ourselves as Madison Park Home Furnishings doing business as Rose Hill Furniture,” said Sesin. “We have an established product line and our customers know the quality of Rose Hill furniture and that won’t change.”
Rose Hill has a long history in Okolona, initially established in 1968. The company had 75 employees and sales of between $12 million and $18 million in 2011.
The business has a 250,000-square-foot site at its current location at 270 South Carter St. in Okolona.
They make mid-range upholstered living-room furniture using wood frames, metal hardware and metal mechanical parts.
