As we mentioned last week, the old McDonald’s in Pontotoc has been demolished, making way for a new, modern version of the famous chain.

Officials this morning broke ground on the soon-to-be-built new restaurant on Highway 15.

The restaurant will feature the newest arcade style look with a side-by-side drive-thru, allowing customers to be served more efficiently. The new upscale interior will feature interactive touch screen activities for family and friends and a spacious seating area for approximately 75 people.

The restaurant and kitchen will house the newest and latest technology and automation. According to owner-operator Rob Hudson, he hopes to increase the number of employees to approximately 90.

The completion date is expected to be early November.
