NEMS Daily Journal wins 34 advertising awards

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal excelled in the Mississippi Press Association’s annual advertising awards competition, receiving 34 awards at the MPA mid-winter convention in Jackson recently.
The Daily Journal advertising department’s awards in the contest’s daily newspaper division included 12 firsts, nine seconds and 13 thirds for work produced in 2009.
“During a slow economic year, it is a definite plus when our customer’s ads grab the readers’ attention,” said Daily Journal Advertising Director Lisa Bryant. “More attention means more potential sales for the business. The results of the MPA ad contest let us know we were pretty successful.”
Journal Publishing Co. community newspapers also won 16 awards.
Ripley’s Southern Sentinel won one first, two seconds and one third, while the Southern Advocate in Ashland won four second-place awards. The Pontotoc Progress won seven awards with one first, three seconds, two thirds and one honorable mention; and the Itawamba County Times won one first-place award.
