HOUSTON, Texas – Disgraced financier R. Allen Stanford’s attorneys got a few more days to file experts’ reports and exhibits as the clock ticks toward his Jan. 23 trial start date.
Wednesday, the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals also approved payments to three Stanford defense consultants, who reportedly quit a few days ago over non-payment issues.
Their action prompted his attorneys to ask the court to delay the trial.
Stanford faces 14 federal counts associated with allegations he masterminded a $7.2 billion Ponzi scheme on certificate of deposit investors.
