ABERDEEN – The Mississippi Development Authority’s Tour-ism Division will launch a new marketing campaign in 2011 that will target one certain area each month. According to Aberdeen Visitors Bureau Director Tina Robbins, the new campaign will help bring visitors to Aberdeen.
“Each month will target a different segment of Mississippi culture,” Robbins said. “January kicks off with food and restaurants. We have two restaurants on the Culinary Trail – Penny Lane’s and Cottage Tea Room.
“We are very lucky to have two restaurants on the culinary trail in Aberdeen,” Robbins added. “Some places only have one, but we now have four in Monroe County – The Friendship House and Bill’s Hamburger House are also on the Mississippi Culinary Trail.
“The culinary trail was established a few years ago. MDA representatives traveled the state and created this trail. I know that part of the criteria to be listed is that the restaurants have to be unique, local restaurants – no chain restaurants.”
Robbins said Aberdeen also will be prominently featured in the marketing campaign in February.
