Tupelo Furniture Market preregistrations soar

Officials with the Tupelo Furniture Market expect a sizable turnout for its spring market in February.

Through Wednesday, preregistration had surged more than 60 percent higher than at the same point a year ago.

That equates to about 10,000 buyers who have signed up for the spring market, which brings together buyers, retailers and manufacturers from across the country.

“We are extremely satisfied with the results of our marketing efforts thus far,” said TFM president Kevin Seddon. “If the current registration trend continues, we should have close to 20,000 preregistered for the event before the end of January.”

The spring market is Feb. 6-9.

Officials don’t expect every preregistered retailer and buyer to attend, but will continue to recruit those who haven’t signed up for the market – as well as those who already have.

“Our focus now is two-fold,” Seddon said. “First, continue to market to those that have not yet registered. Second, ‘remarket’ to those that have already committed and keep them informed about new companies, products and programs that will be made available to them only if they show up in February.”

Seddon said more than 100 of the several hundred exhibitors at the spring market will offer special deals – called Tupelo-Only Specials. A record 105 companies provided special offers to attendees at the fall Tupelo Furniture Market in August.

Making a return to the market are free seminar programs during “Lunch & Learn” sessions.

And Seddon said a limited number of hotel rooms, priced at $40, are available for “cost-conscious” attendees.
