Businessman faces cyberstalking charge

MADISON — A prominent Jackson businessman is facing charges of cyber stalking.

Stuart Irby wouldn’t answer reporters questions about the charge Thursday, according to WLBT television, and police would give few details. The 57-year-old was booked Thursday following a search of his home by Hinds County authorities. He was freed on bond of $50,000.

Irby was in headlines in recent years in connection with an automobile accident that killed two people. His wife Karen is serving an 18-year prison sentence for culpable negligence manslaughter in that case. Authorities said Karen Irby was intoxicated and speeding in her vehicle when the 2009 accident happened. She claimed her husband interfered with her driving, a claim disputed by Stuart Irby and prosecutors.
