ABERDEEN – Kevin Ross Smith of Caledonia faces formal charges Tuesday that he tried to entice minor females to have sex with him.

Smith, 30, was indicted Oct. 31 on two federal counts and will appear before Magistrate Judge David A. Sanders in Aberdeen.

If convicted, he faces a minimum of 10 years in prison on each count.

His indictment claims that in September he used the Internet and his cell phone to try to entice a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old to have sex with him.

Smith’s initial appearance in court came last Thursday.

Sanders set a Nov. 12 hearing about Smith’s detention.
