Call center creates dozen jobs

NEW ALBANY – A new call center opens in New Albany this week, creating 12 jobs.
Professional Management Group owner Thomas Massengill hopes to add another to 40 or 50 in the next 18 months.
“I’ve wanted to do something to put people to work literally for years,” Massengill said. “This is just a way I found. I fell into it.”
Massengill also is the president of New Albany-based ASI, which has 10 employees. He said he had an opportunity to buy a Georgia-based AT&T telemarketing company in April and he did.
“I bought the business primarily because there were a couple of really good people who were about to lose their jobs,” Massengill said.
He tried to keep the operation in Georgia, but he said it was too difficult to manage the business from a distance.
The new call center is on the second floor of Massengill’s downtown building, which also houses ASI.
The PMG employees outside Mississippi are working from home while the majority will be based in downtown New Albany. Including the out-of-state workers, Professional Management Group will have 18 employees when it opens for business this week.
Massengill cited the state’s STEPS program as one of the reasons why he is opening the business now. The job incentive program is paying for four of the call center’s employees, he said.
When the call center gets ramped up, Massengill said it will make about 2,000 to 2,500 outbound calls daily to potential business clients. The company sells ATamp&T business products, such as phone lines and DSL. The call center doesn’t make calls to residential customers.
Massengill has hired the first round of employees, but he’s still taking applications. To apply, visit the business at 105 W. Main St. in downtown New Albany, call (662) 534-4987 or e-mail applications to
